Just Tell Her To Stop: Stories of Families Surviving Eating Disorders
by Becky Henry
Chapter Summary - Stacy's Story
As a thirty-three year old recovered person, Stacy wanted to make sure you hear what didn't work because she feels that is much more helpful than the clinical information found in a textbook. Here is the story of the smartest, sweetest, prettiest and most popular girl in school, who was also the best in choir and all of the many clubs she participated in.
Stacy shares how she went from a young teen held hostage to eating disorder's constant demands to a confident young woman free from the perfectionism that was slowly killing her. She knew how destructive and dangerous it was, but she couldn't stop. The high she got from using her symptoms kept her from feeling too much pain. Stacy shares with us what her family could have done more of to help her move beyond the eating disorder faster.
