Following are some questions anxious parents might ask when they notice their child changing in looks or behaviors. He or she might be: gaining weight, exercising excessively, bingeing, purging, restricting food, dieting–or being depressed, anxious, overly obsessive–or harming her or himself.

  • What are the warning signs your loved one has a problem–and needs help?

  • Can an overweight person have compulsive or overeating behaviors–and then purge/vomit afterwards?

  • What are the clues if your child is starving herself–or has food phobias–or is restricting certain foods?

  • What makes teen dieting or exercise get out of control and become more than just losing weight or being healthy?

  • What makes anorexia/anorexia nervosa so dangerous to a person’s health, and what causes them to die?

  • Do depression, anxiety or OCD tie in with eating disorders?

  • Can constant pursing/vomiting when bulimic cause lifetime health issues?

  • What causes eating disorder relapse and what are the signs?

  • How did you handle the insurance problems?

  • How do you handle holidays?

  • How do you make sure siblings don’t feel neglected?

  • How do you handle the drama at every meal?
